Catherine + David

Historic Georgia Wedding | The Mill at Yellow River

A long-awaited celebration, it was an honor to film Catherine and David’s wedding. Originally scheduled for April 23, 2020, COVID crippled the plans. The two would eventually get married on the beach but opted to host a second event to include their family and friends. We were all ready for this celebration! Keep reading to learn about their rainy summer historic Georgia wedding.

First the two got ready for the long day at The Twelve Oaks Bed & Breakfast – inspiration for Twelve Oaks in Gone With the Wind. The historic venue is a unique backdrop for portraits, with beautifully manicured lawns and towering oak trees. We hosted the first look in front of the main house in the driveway. Catherine looked like a dream, in a sophisticated fit and flare gown. David was dressed in a sleek navy tux with a blush bow tie. Their wedding party looked equally timeless! The groomsmen were dressed in grey suits. Meanwhile, the bridesmaids wore mismatched dresses ranging from light pink to mauve. We got some amazing shots of the wedding party spread out on multiple stories of the venue with the help of a drone.

Afterwards for the ceremony and reception, the party was transported to The Mill at Yellow River. The two had planned to host their ceremony outdoors, but a downpour forced us to move indoors. But with help from staff, family, and friends, it worked out beautifully. They kept the setup simple, with a wood arbor dripping in greenery and a bright white tapestry for a backdrop. It perfectly contrasted the warm brick walls of the venue.

The chic industrial wedding venue also doubled as a reception area, with round tables decorated in white linens. White flowers and fresh greenery made for simple but elegant centerpieces and perfectly matched the bridal bouquets. Here the couple partook in their first dance and the cake cutting. And in the moments between, we took advantage of the expansive venue – including a balcony overlooking the roaring falls of the Yellow River.
